NEW MODELS FROM OPENAI
July 20, 2024I noticed the available models have changed in my OpenAI paid account (not sure about free accounts)...
Prior the choices were GPT-3.5, GPT-4 and GPT-4o, describing 3.5 as good for everyday tasks.

- MAJOR CHATGPT UPDATE -
May 13, 2024At their Spring Update Livestream, OpenAI announced the release of their most advanced AI model, GPT-4o.
The lower case letter "o" in the name signifies its "omnimodal" model - a single model combining text, audio, and visual inputs and outputs.
GPT-4o is the most advanced AI model by OpenAI, and it will be offered publicly at no charge. All the features that previously required a paid subscription (ie injesting personal files, the GPT store, web browsing) will now be made available for free.
OpenAI is also reportedly planning to eventually take on Google search with its own AI-powered search product.
Also announced at the event was a desktop version of ChatGPT.

Update: Speaking to the The Wall Street Journal in March, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati said Sora would be available for the public by the end of this year and possibly within the next few months.

CHATGPT MEMORY ENHANCEMENT
February 13, 2024OpenAI announces that they are testing memory with ChatGPT, where previous discussions across all chats are now considered in new chats. User still remains in control of ChatGPT's memory however. You can explicitly tell it to remember something, ask it what it remembers, and tell it to forget conversationally or through settings. You can also turn it off entirely. This memory enhancement is being rolled out to a small portion of ChatGPT free and Plus users this week.
It should be noted that remembering conversations like this isn't new functionality. It could be done previously as well. Now it's just much easier to enable/disable and tweak.

GPT STORE LAUNCHED
January 10, 2024OpenAI begins rollout of GPT Store. Here anyone with a ChatGPT Plus account can create "GPTs" and make them available for public use, kind of like Google's Play Store or Apple's App Store.
GPTs INTRODUCED
November 6, 2023At their first-ever developer's conference, OpenAI announces the availability of GPTs for ChatGPT Plus users. GPTs are user created, customized instances of ChatGPT designed for a specific task, rather than a one-for-all do everything chatbot like has been up to this point. GPTs dramatically extend the capabilities (and ease of use) of ChatGPT with the introduction of new integrations. These integrations not only allow for plugins (though plugins may be phased out), but also offer real-time web crawling, injesting of personal documents, customized instructions, and third-party API integrations.
Also announced was ChatGPT Turbo - a variant of OpenAI's ChatGPT model that is designed to be faster and more cost-effective compared to the standard ChatGPT, and well suited for large-scale and real-time applications.
